There will be training that you will have to pass for example, how the jobs are done and the helicopter survival. Most companies provide such training to their employees.
Though this job requires lot of hard work but where will you find another job for untrained persons, which offer such good salary packages, besides this you will be working for few weeks and then off for approximately the same number.

During an oil spill there is a lot of work available to help clean it up.
I really don’t share your view as a little oil spill has a massive impact on the environment. I worked in Alaska when they had their spill and it isn’t a nice thing to witness.
